NBA Supports the Gays

Of course I've been watching the NBA playoffs, but only recently did I notice the ad about the word "gay". As a supporter of gay rights and gay marriage, I think this ad was a great way to show the NBA supports this cause. At first when I saw the ad I thought to myself, "Why show this on an NBA channel? I'm not sure what percent of the gay people are going to be watching this." But then I had my moment of realization and I felt a little stupid. Gay people aren't the ones that use the word gay offensively. It's other people that are ignorant or hear their friends saying it, so they think it's cool. I realized that the NBA knew a lot of people were going to be watching the playoffs and they could get the message out to a lot of people by showing it during a game. I think about the big body builder type guys that use "no homo" all the time and they say, "That's gay" as a common phrase and I knew that some of those guys would see that commercial. The commercial was nice and it was a great way to spread the word. I applaud the NBA and everyone involved with that commercial because it was a job well done! :)
